Shepherds huts are often bought as garden rooms, guest accommodation, studios etc and we have built some beautiful miniatures called ‘Little Chestnuts’ as children’s playhouses with Montessori style kitchens,. We can build even smaller ones for your four legged friends, but if you have an idea in mind for a different kind of eco living space or contemporary garden cabin that you dream of..let us know, we can design it!

Nutshells
Our Nutshells are huts built as well as a tiny timber framed house, using the best materials and finished to perfection, if you are wanting to plan and fit out your hut yourself, this this may be all you want. You can choose, a single or double door and the number of windows, and the number of sockets and light switches you want. (A standard Nutshell comes with single stable oak stable door, 2 oak windows, 2 sockets and 1 wall light) but you can add to this or change this if you prefer.
Nutshells can be built in lengths from 12ft-18ft long and are a 6’6- 8ft wide. A 12ft x 6ft6 nutshell has the exact original proportions of the original Victorian shepherds huts, they create a snug if you like, a perfect hideout, hobby room, studio or even a home office. We can include as extra a beautiful desk, single bed, and wood-burner or other heating choice such as cast iron look radiator or underfloor heating, You can comfortably add a bookshelf if you wish to this size. The Single stable door tends to go on the end gable and you may choose a balcony option.
You will have a choice of external cladding (A nutshell has corrugated cladding as standard). They will fully insulated with Thermafleece and cladded, painted internally in nutshell warm white and come with an oak floor, solid oak chassis and solid cast iron wheels. All sizes are fully insulated and weatherproof. There are of course a multitude of add on options available to choose from. Please enquire, for more details.
Sweet Chestnuts
These are fully fitted out huts to suit their size and purpose. Normally in a layout that we know to be most efficient and practical. They are all ready to be connected and used immediately once in position and are all made to exacting standards and for comfortable year round use. Beautiful craftsmanship and detailing assured. A SWEET CHESTNUT is 18ft x 8ft still retains a classic shepherds hut look, while affording more room and options and makes a comfortable guest room. A Sweet Chestnut includes an oak stable door as standard, although double doors on the side make a great addition to enjoy the view and expand the sense of space, 2 oak windows are standard, double bed & Italian Orthosoft mattress, a gorgeous small country kitchen and table/bench seat combination, electrics, 5% VAT and standard delivery included.
You can also comfortably add a shower room to this size.

Conker Cabin
Conker Cabin
A CONKER CABIN 16-18ft x 8ft X 2 - Double Braced! providing a very spacious lodge type proportions, able to accommodate a family of four with ease, they easily fit a shower room with WC and the Conker is made with one, the additional room allows a larger ‘Country Lifestyle’ kitchen and two bedrooms, one Kingsize with cloud mattress and storage and one with bunks or fold out double. They come with oak stable door, double and single oak windows, wood burner, table, seating, electrics. As above there are many options and additions to choose from and we can walk you through these as well as potential layouts to see what works for you. Prices inc 5% VAT and delivery. We make the chassis ourselves and hand forge the bolts and brackets to give a truly authentic heritage look. It will last for generations!

We love the choice and quality of Pooky and use different styles throughout as bedside wall lights, spots in the kitchen and bathroom and external lighting by the doors!
Quality Detailing Guaranteed
All our huts are hand made from scratch with a huge amount of care and attention to detail and this will be evident when you view. They are solid, very well insulated and weatherproof; designed to be cool in summer, warm in winter, and made to last for generations.
All our wood and materials are sourced responsibly, much of our wood actually comes from the South West where we are based. We make a solid oak chassis and you will find the wheels are thick cast iron, embossed with CHESTNUT; the mark of quality.
Our huts are made to British Standard guidelines 1647:2012, so we have taken care of all safety considerations, and come with a certified electrics package.
The double-glazed window & door frames are handmade at our workshop, finished with wrought iron fixings, even the bolts we use are hand forged here to ensure an authentic traditional look.
Fixtures, fittings and lighting options are classic, timeless and high end or can be refurbished vintage for those looking for more character and up-cycling credentials. The kitchen and bathrooms will speak for themselves, you know quality when you see it.
Not only that, we consider the ethical values and green credentials of all our suppliers right down to the fridge and hob manufacturers.
We are excited to be currently exploring alternatives for countertops such as recycled terrazzo, recycled stainless steel, paper stone or glass.

OFF GRID
OR MAINS?
A Chestnut hut can go anywhere! All huts can be made either with intention to be fitted to mains power and water or to be independent and off grid; with various solar and gas solutions offered and solar experts on our team, we want to support you in this! We will talk about this in initial stages as it will of course affect some design elements and choices.

This is a brand new luxury Sweet Chestnut model, completed in Little Greene, Silent White & Pleat interior scheme . It has a bigger shower room than other brands; fitted with top end fixtures and fittings and bespoke items that add character and set it apart from other huts. The kitchen is fully fitted out with fridge, hob and small oven, but has been designed so it doesn’t shout kitchen, so the remaining space can be as an office, studio or bedroom.
